Created on March 19, 1971, Editora da UFRGS is today a supplementary body linked to the Pro-Rectory for Academic Coordination (PROCAD) of the Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul. 2i543g
It is one of the most important academic publishing houses in Brazil and has published hundreds of titles throughout its history, many of which have won awards from local and national cultural and scientific institutions.
It is a founding member of the Brazilian Association of University Publishers (ABEU) and of the Rio-Grandense Book Chamber, and is present at every edition of the Porto Alegre Book Fair.
Editora da UFRGS currently offers its physical and digital books to the public through its virtual distribution channel (livraria.ufrgs.br). In the case of digital books, distribution is guided by an open access policy, maintained with the of the University’s Digital Repository – LUME and the SciELO Books portal.
